- ➤ Today, community members can paint the ice at Howard Park Ice Trail & Pond from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and then skate after the Zamboni clears the design at 4 p.m. or 6 p.m., with all ages welcome. WSBT
- ➤ A local veteran who served in World War II and the Korean War celebrated his 100th birthday on Saturday, Jan. 3. Family and friends gathered to honor his service and lasting legacy. WNDU
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ At the Al Smith Invitational held Jan. 2-3 at The Cave (Mishawaka High School), New Prairie wrestler Matthew Staples won the 165-pound title and became his school's only individual champion. Coach Bobby Whitenack said the event helped the team prepare for future meets among 32 state teams. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ Following a one-point loss to Cal after a controversial foul call, Notre Dame basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry lost his composure on Friday night and was restrained, and he now faces possible ACC discipline ahead of the home opener against Clemson. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ Former Concord High School running back Jaron Thomas (who saw limited action at Purdue) is transferring to Minnesota after one season; he retains four years of eligibility for future play. WNDU

Mishwaka Honors Long time Mishawaka Educator Dave Troyer
Long time administrator who passed away recently from heart attack will be honored this Friday Night. Coach Mike Lightfoot former Head Coach at Bethel will share at half time of the Goshen- Mishawaka boys basketball game. I scholarship fund is being launched in Mr Troyers name for a Mishawaka student to receive to attend Bethel University
