  • Local community leaders will join a panel on Black youth in Mishawaka, as detailed in a press release issued yesterday, Jan. 17, to discuss local challenges and solutions. The event offers residents a chance to learn about current issues that impact our youth.  WNDU

CULTURE NEWS

  • Families of all ages are invited to join the Speak Out Truth Project’s Unsilenced Open Mic for the Inner Child at Lang Lab Saturday, Jan. 24 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will feature spoken word, music, art and free face painting for children — a creative space for community expression.  ABC57
  • The Valleyaires Chorus will compete at the Barbershop Harmony Society convention in St. Louis, marking their first international competition in 80 years. This milestone shows the group's growth and ambition.  South Bend Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bethel University held a halftime presentation during a men's basketball game yesterday to announce the Dave Troyer 51 Scholarship fund. Former head coach Mike Lightfoot said the fund—honoring the late Troyer with his iconic number—includes a $51,000 matching pledge to support annual scholarships for Mishawaka High School students.  ABC57

  • At Saturday, Jan. 17, New Prairie won the NIC boys wrestling meet with eight individual champions, turning a previous loss to Penn into a tournament success. Mishawaka clinched the NLC title by earning 189.5 points over NorthWood's 186 with three individual wins.  South Bend Tribune

    Long time administrator who passed away recently from heart attack will be honored this Friday Night. Coach Mike Lightfoot former Head Coach at Bethel will share at half time of the Goshen- Mishawaka boys basketball game. I scholarship fund is being launched in Mr Troyers name for a Mishawaka student to receive to attend Bethel University
