- ➤ Mishawaka City Council approved the auto mall area Monday night, allowing Gurley Leep to move its car dealerships to a 70-acre site at Capital Avenue and Cleveland Road with planned upgrades and city funding of about $10 to $11 million + a bond resolution is expected in March. WSBT
- ➤ On Monday, Feb. 3, the Indiana House passed a bill granting local communities 1% of tax revenue from data centers and allowing them to locate on agricultural land with lower-quality soil. Critics said the measure cuts the public rezoning process; the bill passed 56-43. WVPE

- ➤ Meijer pulled over 38,000 gallons of steam distilled water from stores in six states (including local outlets) after the FDA found contamination. The company is removing affected products to help protect consumers. WNDU

- ➤ Potawatomi Zoo will host Crafting with the Creatures on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 2 to 3 p.m. at (500 S. Greenlawn Avenue) where visitors create Valentine’s Day cards with ambassador animals; tickets cost $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, and $15 for children. WNDU

- ➤ On Feb. 3, the Northern Indiana Conference honored top wrestling performers when coach Andre Scruggs from South Bend Adams received Coach of the Year and wrestlers Jeffrey Huyvaert and Vinny Freeman were named Co-MVPs. - ➤ Former Purdue star Jaden Ivey was traded from the Pistons to the Chicago Bulls in a three-team deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves & Mike Conley Jr. The South Bend native who attended Marian in Mishawaka averaged 8.2 points on the bench this season and will join the Bulls soon.
