  • After a 10-week outage, hot water was restored at Cedar Glen on Monday, Feb. 14, as new boilers and storage tanks were installed by the property management — additional water storage improvements are planned for later this week.  WNDU
  • Kailani, a 9-year-old with a love for pretty dresses and writing stories, is still waiting for a permanent home—her little brother Marcell is also available for adoption. Local foster care groups are working to place both children together with a loving family.  WNDU

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A person fell through ice Wednesday afternoon near Chain O' Lakes and was rescued by the St. Joseph County Fire Territory — officials warn that ice conditions change quickly with recent warm temperatures.  WSBT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Bethel University will host its fourth annual Festival of Jazz and Jim Pickley Memorial Concert on Saturday, Feb. 21 in Everest-Rohrer Auditorium. The free-to-attend event will feature performances by local high school jazz bands and guest clinicians.  InkFreeNews
  • Local arts leader Kelly Burgét, who founded UZIMA! Drum and Dance Company and co-hosted 'Experience Michiana' on PBS Michiana WNIT-TV (34.1), died on Friday, Feb. 6 at age 60. Her work in dance enriched the area's cultural scene and left a lasting impact.  South Bend Tribune

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Notre Dame men’s lacrosse team will host Georgetown this Sunday with a new start time of 12:30 p.m. outdoors at Arlotta Stadium (moved back one hour from the original schedule).  WNDU
  • Vince McCoy, a sophomore wrestler from Riley, is set to compete at the IHSAA state finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday, Feb. 20. He has clinched titles at the NIC, sectional, regional and semi-state levels and aims to become the first state champion from his school in years.  South Bend Tribune
  • Notre Dame is beginning spring practice in the coming weeks with new transfer wide receivers Mylan Graham and Quincy Porter from Ohio State. The team will host its Blue-Gold Game on Saturday, April 25 at Notre Dame Stadium.  WNDU
  • Notre Dame grad student Malaya Cowles reserved 28 tickets for family for today's game at Purcell Pavilion against her former team Wake Forest. Cowles missed two games due to a knee injury and her mother—battling cancer—will attend for only the second time this season.  South Bend Tribune
  • After beating NC State by 12 points on Feb. 18, Notre Dame women’s basketball saw seeding boosts in NCAA mock brackets, with ESPN moving them to a 7 seed while other outlets projected different match-ups. The team will face upcoming ACC games as the regular season nears its end.  South Bend Tribune
