EDUCATION NEWS

  • Scouting America LaSalle Council launched the 100 Hearts in 100 Days campaign to teach 100 residents CPR and AED skills through 12 training sessions from January to April. The next session will be on March 4 at the Scout Service Center in South Bend.  WSBT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Indiana legislators unveiled plans on Feb. 19 to form a Northwest Indiana Stadium Authority in Hammond that may partner with the Chicago Bears for a new stadium. The proposal involves about $1 billion in public funds + tax increases to cover bond payments and upgrades, pending further due diligence.  InkFreeNews

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Karl King Riverbed Tower apartments and Portage Township agreed on a plan that offers a 20% rent credit to tenants in March and requires the owner to report heating issues for three years. The deal includes replacing six boilers already with six more slated for summer.  South Bend Tribune

SPORTS NEWS

  • Notre Dame fell to Pittsburgh 73-68 on Saturday as the Panthers built a decisive lead in the second half. ND dropped to 12-15 overall and 3-11 in ACC play and will host No. 3 Duke on Tuesday at Purcell Pavilion at 7 p.m.  WNDU
  • Notre Dame alum Jadin O’Brien and pilot Elana Meyers Taylor finished tied for seventh in the two-woman bobsled at the Olympic Games in Cortina d’Ampezzo after recovering from an earlier slip, while German teams took gold and silver and another U.S. duo earned bronze.  WNDU
