  • Ashley Flowers, a true crime podcaster from South Bend, gave La Casa de Amistad $500,000 to upgrade its immigration legal clinic. The grant will renovate the space, hire staff, and cover travel costs for court cases in Chicago and Indianapolis.  WVPE
  • Interra Credit Union completed its 32nd Hometown Giving campaign today, raising $43,577 to support more than 40 local non-profit groups. The funds will help with food assistance, housing support, education programs and healthcare.  InkFreeNews

  • AES, the parent company of AES Indiana, announced on March 2 that it has agreed to be purchased for over $33 billion by an investor group — the deal is expected to close in late 2026 or early 2027 while customer rates remain unchanged.  InkFreeNews

  • South Bend Cubs and WRBR-FM announced that Killswitch Engage will headline Full Metal Sunday on June 7 at Four Winds Field in Mishawaka. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday with VIP pit and suite options available.  South Bend Tribune

  • Amazon's request to pump 35 million gallons daily for 546 days to build new data center foundations is tabled by the St. Joseph County Drainage Board as local farmers worry the Niespodziany Ditch, which drains into the Kankakee, may flood—board review is set for Apr. 5.  WVPE

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local nominees from Adams High (known for a friendly soccer star) and Mishawaka High are set for Student of the Week, and voting is open until noon on Thursday, March 5; details about the winner will appear online Friday and in print on Monday.  South Bend Tribune

  • Bethel University is partnering with the Elkhart Community Foundation and the Elkhart County Convention + Visitors Bureau to host the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships today at Beacon’s Elkhart Health and Aquatics, with the event running through March 7 for its second consecutive year; day passes start at $20.  WNDU
  • IHSAA boys basketball sectionals began Tuesday and continue today with teams competing at local venues such as Mishawaka and Elkhart — matchups on Friday and Saturday will decide which teams advance.  South Bend Tribune
  • Notre Dame football freshman Noah Grubbs enrolled early and moved into a Keough Hall dorm room to gain extra spring practice and prepare for the upcoming season. He visited campus 15 times last season to master a tougher playbook (adjusting from high school) in anticipation of earning a starting role.  South Bend Tribune
  • Notre Dame women’s basketball enters the ACC Tournament as the No. 5 seed after finishing the regular season 12-6 and will play its (second-round) game tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. in Duluth, Georgia.  WNDU
  • Notre Dame basketball standout Hannah Hidalgo was named ACC Player of the Year for the second season in a row and ACC Defensive Player of the Year for the third time overall. The junior earned top honors after averaging 25.2 points + 5.6 steals per game during the season.  South Bend Tribune
