  • Unity Gardens is launching a free after school program where kids aged 8 to 16 plant herbs, seed trees and build bug hotels in a community garden in South Bend.   • The Starting Small Summit will return to Mishawaka on April 2 at the Everest-Rohrer Auditorium at Bethel University from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fourth-year event will bring business leaders together and feature interviews with former Blockbuster and 7-11 CEO James W. CRIME NEWS

  • Carter Dixon, a juvenile suspect linked to three firearm incidents in South Bend in November and December, will face trial in an adult court for Criminal Recklessness, Dangerous Possession of a Firearm and Aggravated Battery with his bond set just under $125,000 — state prosecutors moved for his waiver from juvenile court.  95.3 MNC

CULTURE NEWS

  • Workers from Tianyu Arts and Culture have set up Chinese lantern displays at Potawatomi Zoo ahead of Zoo Luminate, which will run Wednesdays through Sundays from 6 to 10 p.m. starting March 19 until May 25—these vibrant displays feature oversized animals and plants from Asia, Africa and North America and may attract 60,000 visitors.  South Bend Tribune

HEALTH NEWS

  • Danone voluntarily recalled over 75,000 32 oz bottles of International Delight coffee creamer, including Hazelnut and Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll, after receiving complaints of spoilage and illness — the recall began on Feb. 21. Stores in 31 states, including Indiana, are told to discard the product, which has best-used-by dates in early July 2025.  South Bend Tribune
