  • Yesterday the South Shore Line opened an eight-mile branch to Dyer after years of planning and construction. The route includes three new stations with plans for a Downtown Hammond stop and offers rush-hour service to Chicago plus off-peak shuttles connecting to the main line.  WVPE
  • Kingdom Business Almsgiving Ministries provides free groceries and essentials every Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the German Township Community Center amid rising prices, and a drive-through pantry event will offer quick service Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. for local residents.  WNDU
