  • Mitch Barloga from the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission said he added ten miles to the Marquette Greenway during a virtual Northwest Indiana Green Drinks event on Thursday, April 4, and by year’s end the trail is expected to reach 40-plus miles connecting New Buffalo to Michiana Shores.  WVPE
  • Gary Sieber will lead a community Easter egg dyeing event today at a local center in Mishawaka. Families can join to learn dyeing tips and celebrate Easter + create lasting memories.  WNDU
  • The Potawatomi Zoo announced on Saturday that Mary Jo, its 19-year-old bobcat (rescued in 2007), was recently euthanized. She was known for fishing in the bobcat pond and chasing tennis balls.  WSBT

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Crews including the Mishawaka Fire Department, construction & utility workers have been working to contain a gas leak at the intersection of E. 12th Street and Industrial Drive since 2 p.m. Friday with access on 12th Street limited.  WNDU
  • Crews worked to contain a gas leak in Mishawaka yesterday evening after it was detected at 8:25 p.m., and officials took safety measures to protect nearby residents.  WNDU

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Officials (St. Joseph County Parks) reported that the bald eagle nest at St. Patrick’s County Park now has one egg after a second egg was lost during incubation on Wednesday. They said the remaining egg is expected to hatch in the next few days.  WSBT

  • Local Sheriff William Redman will speak at the League of Women Voters' Lunch with the League on Zoom at noon on April 10. He will address community issues such as mental health and homelessness to help residents understand key local policy challenges.  South Bend Tribune

  • The South Bend Cubs season opener was postponed for the second day in a row because the infield at the newly-renovated Four Winds Field was unplayable — the team plans to reschedule Saturday's game.  WNDU
