CRIME NEWS

  • St. Joseph County Police said that early Saturday at about 1 a.m. at a rented home on Grape Road, an incident occurred when 20 shots were fired with no injuries and nearly 50 people gathered, and police are now asking for help to identify a shooter from video and a still photo—part of a growing trend linking one-night rental gatherings with criminal activity.  South Bend Tribune

  • Indiana Gov. Mike Braun issued an executive order to end tax penalties on marriage, saying the current tax system disadvantages married couples—state agencies must review laws and provide recommendations by July 1.  95.3 MNC
  • Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood delivered his State of the City address Monday evening where he said the city's crime rate is down for the fifth year thanks to a new 12—hour shift police schedule that is now being copied across the state. He also noted that the city added 700 housing units since 2023 and expects to have 1,300 by 2027.  WSBT
  • Yesterday, Indiana Gov. Mike Braun signed nine executive orders (including revisions to SNAP benefits, food labeling, and local farm food direct-to-consumer access) with U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F.
