  • Approved on April 14 by the Plan Commission (unanimously), site plans give Dutch Bros a vacant lot north of 4340 N. Main St. and 7 Brew the former Windy City Gyros spot at 5540 N. Main St., bringing both coffee chains to North Main Street as construction start is unannounced.  South Bend Tribune

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Grand Kankakee Marsh, once one of the world’s largest wetlands spanning up to one million acres, now features three DNR properties along the Kankakee River. Restoration efforts include removing drainage tiles & re-establishing ponds to restore hydric soils and support waterfowl habitat with government and license funding.  WSBT
  • The Potawatomi Zoo welcomed Frankie, a 24-year-old southern white rhinoceros weighing about 5,200 pounds from Brevard Zoo on April 2 as part of a conservation plan.
