  • City officials announced that the Miracle Field Project in Mishawaka will begin renovation in July after 60 years of no updates—this first phase will add new restrooms, a larger parking lot, and improved handicap entrances while planning for sports courts, a splash pad, and a playground.  WNDU
  • Mishawaka held a National Workers Memorial Day service to honor workers who lost their lives or were injured on the job. Common Council President Gregg Hixenbaugh stressed the importance of shared responsibility for improving workplace safety.  WSBT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • School districts are preparing for future budget challenges as Senate Bill 1 cuts property tax revenue—funds used for transportation, facilities and administration may be lower in the coming years.   • Indiana veterans saw some wins—like increased life insurance for National Guard members and the reinstated property tax deduction for disabled veterans—but also faced setbacks as lawmakers broadened the veteran definition and left other key benefits unaddressed.   • The City of Mishawaka has completed the new Juday Creek Water Treatment Plant and six wellfields to ensure clean drinking water for today and the future.
