- ➤ Officials at Newton Park announced the playground closed indefinitely on May 12 due to bullying, violence, and property destruction issues — it will remain closed until safety measures are put in place. Families affected have been apologized to for the inconvenience. 95.3 MNC
- ➤ Earlier Monday, the South Bend Police Department and local law enforcement held a memorial service at the Fallen Officers Memorial at Southlawn Cemetery & representatives from St. Joseph County, Mishawaka, and the state police attended to honor fallen officers who served the community. WNDU
- ➤ The East Race Waterway in downtown South Bend will be closed for the 2026 season as updates are underway, though walking and running paths along the St. Joseph River remain open for visitors. WNDU

- ➤ High school athletes will be allowed to earn money from their name, image, and likeness starting next school year as the IHSAA introduces a rule that bans school deals.
