CRIME NEWS

  • Overnight, mass emails and texts claiming unpaid tolls and appearing to come from hacked state accounts have been sent, and officials say they ended a contract with the company last year but did not remove the account—state agencies will never send toll notices via email or text.  WSBT

  • The City of Mishawaka filed a petition with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission to reaffirm its water and sewer service area around the proposed Microsoft Data Center site—using over $140 million invested in water and wastewater projects over the past 20 years—while showing it is ready to support future large-scale developments.  City of Mishawaka
  • The Tippecanoe-Chapman Sewer District met Monday, May 12 to discuss connection updates, a USDA spending change order, and an annexation request from a local resident whose septic tank failed causing flooding—board members also noted that heavy rain from April 2 to April 4 raised flow by about 52%.   • Indiana lawmakers passed House Enrolled Act 1390 yesterday to curb predatory vehicle towing practices and limit fees while ensuring itemized invoices and access to personal items—how drivers and commercial carriers get additional protection.
