Mishawaka hosts a Memorial Day Parade today at 9:30 a.m. along Main Street then Mishawaka Avenue to Battell Park with a remembrance ceremony by VFW Post 360 and American Legion Post 161.
Other Michiana communities hold parades and services to honor local veterans.
🎭 Culture
The Mac & Cheese Festival at Four Winds Field featured gourmet mac and cheese, craft beers, ciders, seltzers, non-alcoholic drinks, live music, Micro Mania wrestling and a Kids Zone.
The community event took place on May 24 and offered family-friendly activities with a variety of treats.
Over the opening weekend, the Northern Darkness Garrison's 501st Legion visited Cinemark Movies 14 in Mishawaka during the screening of The Mandalorian & Grogu, offering Star Wars fans a unique experience.
Live music lights up the Michiana region this week as concerts are staged at venues such as Round Barn Winery & Estate, the Blue Gate Performing Arts Center, and Four Winds Casino.
Concerts offer free and ticketed options with performances scheduled throughout May 25 to 31.
Photos from the first session of the 2026 Global Democracy Conference were taken on Tuesday, May 19 at Notre Dame in South Bend, where experts (including the Kellogg Institute director and the Colombian ambassador) shared their insights on global democracy.

On May 21, Rep. Rudy Yakym introduced the Preserving Community Food Assistance Act of 2026, which would let local food pantries require identification for assistance.
The bill has support from groups including MAC Food Pantry in Mishawaka and Hearts United for Bristol Food Pantry.
Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita said his office investigated 30 fuel retailers for suspected price gouging after an energy emergency in April led to more than 170 consumer complaints.
The office tracked prices at 4,600 stations (with a public dashboard) to ensure savings were passed on.

Gov. Mike Braun and representatives from Marian, Purdue + local hospitals launched the Crossroads Academic Medical Institute on May 19 to boost healthcare access and workforce opportunities, with plans to serve underserved communities and secure significant research funding.
