CRIME NEWS

  • An Indiana State trooper named Andrew G. Kocsis, 39, faces theft and obstruction of justice felonies and a fraud misdemeanor in St. Joseph County for actions dating back to October 2024—his charges filed on June 16 led to his administrative leave and his initial court date is set for July 8.  InkFreeNews

  • The South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestra will perform classic Queen hits with a full rock band in an upcoming youth concert—this show promises a lively and big performance for local music fans.  WNDU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At a hearing on June 18, St. Joseph Circuit Judge John Broden reviewed Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita’s immigration lawsuit against Sheriff Bill Redman, who argued that the state has not suffered the required injury for standing. The judge will rule by Aug. 18—if he finds the lack of injury sufficient, the suit will be dismissed.  WVPE

HEALTH NEWS

  • Michiana Hematology Oncology announced that its Plymouth site will stop offering infusion and injection services due to rising costs and lower reimbursement rates — the change will not affect provider visits — and patients will receive direct guidance on transitioning to a hospital partner.  ABC57

SPORTS NEWS

  • The fourth annual Golic SubPar Classic will be held this weekend on the Notre Dame campus, with a fundraising dinner on Saturday at 6 p.m. and a golf tournament on Sunday at Warren Golf Course—former and current Notre Dame football players such as Jordan Faison, Eli Raridon, Drayk Bowen, and Billy Schrauth will tee off.  South Bend Tribune
