Today, the South Bend Police Department is partnering with local businesses to host the 2025 School’s Out Cookout at Kennedy Park where local children and adults can enjoy face painting, bounce houses and games from 11 a.m. — 2 p.m.

State Senator Mike Bohacek—of Michiana Shores—is allowed to keep driving while he awaits a decision on a Class A misdemeanor O.W.I charge linked to a January 24th traffic stop in Michigan City where he allegedly showed a blood alcohol level of .283%; his vehicle must now have an ignition interlock device installed.

Last night's storms caused scattered damage across Michiana as large trees fell on powerlines in Osceola, Mishawaka, and Goshen in winds over 60 mph—power outages affected hundreds—and crews cleared debris and began power restoration this morning.

At North Webster Elementary on June 14, the Tournament of Champions saw local athletes compete as NorthWood alumni Benjamin Vincent and Morgan Jenkins—veteran competitors—won top prizes and scholarships while Kendall Wayne, Rylee Burns, Addison Beasley, Mason Shoemaker, Austin Cripe and Redick Zolman also placed. The Shoop Sports and Youth Foundation awarded a $2,000 scholarship for first place and additional prizes while athletes plan to build on these successes in future competitions.
