  • Police responded at 3:30 a.m. to a shots fired call at 615 Locust near the intersection of East Grove and Locust—multiple shell casings were found and no one was injured as the scene remains an active crime scene.  WNDU
  • Mishawaka police are investigating a shots-fired incident at a home on East Grove—Locust Streets that occurred at 3:40 a.m. on Friday, June 20 where several rounds struck the house—yet no one was hurt and officers noted previous incidents at the same address.  95.3 MNC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Notre Dame Law School will open a Veterans Law Clinic in August to help veterans with disability claims and offer hands-on training for law students under the guidance of legal scholar Caleb Stone — the clinic will initially serve veterans in Indiana and southwestern Michigan.  InkFreeNews

  • A new study shows Indiana homeowners saw a 16% rise in insurance costs between 2021 and 2024 and one out of every 54 policies was cancelled in 2022 when payments were missed.   • Gov. Mike Braun signed a bill into law that lets Indiana impose tolls on all interstates to boost revenue for road construction and maintenance—State Rep. Jim Pressel said the bill was approved without extra legislative steps and there is no set date for tolls to start.  WNDU

  • Mishawaka Fire Department crews completed advanced CPR simulation training over three days using the iSimulate system and achieved scores above 90% with no chest compression pauses longer than 10 seconds—meeting national standards for effective cardiac arrest care.
