  • The Mishawaka Independence Day Celebration will take place on June 28th from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm at Mishawaka Central Park, featuring a fireworks display beginning at 10:20 pm and several family-friendly activities for all ages.  City of Mishawaka
  • The St. Joseph County 4-H Fair returns for its 100th year on Friday, June 27 and will run until Saturday, July 5 at 5117 Ironwood Road in South Bend. The fair will feature rodeos, concerts and shows along with livestock exhibitions, elephant ears and lemon shake ups.  WNDU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Governor Mike Braun announced that all 15 Indiana public colleges and universities will freeze in-state tuition and fees for undergraduate students for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 academic years — marking the first time since 2010 that more than two campuses have taken this step.  WNDU

  • St. Joseph County Prosecutor Ken Cotter said the state will privatize Adult Protective Services on July 1 by shifting oversight to a Boston-based company, Public Consulting Group. He noted the change will reduce the investigator team from seven for four counties to 11 for 20 counties (hoping the new model will still protect vulnerable adults).  WVPE

  • Alissa O’Hara, senior director of clinical operations for LOGAN Community Resources, advised families on water safety skills for children with autism after three drowning incidents in Michiana—including a tragic accident that claimed a 6-year-old non-verbal child in a neighbor’s pool—and urged parents to closely supervise children around water.  WNDU
