- ➤ South Shore Line is working with St. Joseph County and South Bend to secure local funding needed to match a potential $56M federal grant for a $112M project that will create a shorter train route to the airport. Earlier this year, the state committed $28M and the Transportation District added $6M—private partners have also shown interest as the project prepares its next federal funding application this fall.
