  • The South Bend Regional Chamber will host a Zoom podcast seminar on Tuesday, Aug 5 from 11 a.m. to noon for local businesses. The session—led by the owner and lead audio engineer of South Bend-based Wayfare Recording—will cover the basics of launching a successful podcast.  95.3 MNC

CRIME NEWS

  • Jury deliberations are underway in adult court for a 17-year-old teen charged with killing Takoda Gallegos in Mishawaka after a January shooting on the 200 block of N. Indiana Avenue—police also took a 14-year-old into custody on related charges.  WNDU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mishawaka High School will soon require students to store their backpacks and belongings in lockers for safety and security. The new policy, based on classroom safety studies, will take effect in the first week of school—students will receive their locker assignments during Freshman Orientation.  WSBT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Mishawaka announced that NIPSCO has limited the north and southbound lanes on Grape Road between Imus Drive and Catalpa Drive to one lane each while repair crews complete an emergency gas main repair. Crews will work around the clock into early next week — motorists are advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays.  ABC57
  • The City of Mishawaka welcomed three summer interns at City Hall who gained hands-on skills in engineering, communications, and environmental work.
