- ➤ The Mishawaka Common Council approved the final zoning variances on August 5, 2025—allowing Gurley-Leep Automotive Group to move from Grape Road to farmland along Capital Avenue where they will consolidate eight dealerships and add amenities like walking paths, a dog park, a golf simulator, and a café. President Mike Leep Jr. said the firm planned the move over four years and will break ground this fall with plans to open in 2027 while planting 300 trees to create a park-like setting. WVPE

- ➤ One person died in an overnight shooting on the 500 block of E. Twelfth Street just before 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 5 — police have not yet taken any suspect into custody. WNDU

- ➤ Purdue Extension advises that common reed — an invasive plant from Europe, Asia, and Africa — grows very tall and takes over native plants along roads, streams, and ditches. - ➤ Carmel-based UNIFI Autism Care opened a facility on July 22 at 1920 East McKinley Ave in Mishawaka during a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce. The center offers autism diagnosis, behavioral health care and family support services for children aged 18 months to 18 years + it aims to bring services closer to families in South Bend, Elkhart and Northern Indiana.
