Authorities identified a 17-year-old as the victim of a deadly shooting in Mishawaka early Tuesday morning+ the investigation is ongoing.

South Bend Community School Corporation officials told the public on August 5th that transportation issues remain a top concern—survey responses showed low pay, bus repairs, routing difficulties and driver retention problems.

The district has hired more drivers while planning to combine or cancel some routes—WSBT reports it aims for 120 drivers and better bus management by the 2026-2027 school year.

On Aug. 5, the Seventh Circuit said Indiana’s 25-foot police buffer law is too vague—police might arrest someone simply for asking for help.

Future talks will decide if the law is blocked for all residents or only for those in the lawsuit.
