- ➤ Cultivate Food Rescue hosted its 8th annual Taste of Hope event yesterday at the Century Center — 120 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. — where local chefs and community leaders offered tastings to help rescue surplus food and fight hunger in the region. 95.3 MNC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita said he is probing Notre Dame’s DEI policies further after the university did not fully answer his questions in a May letter. He has issued a Civil Investigative Demand with a response due by Aug. 27 — and similar reviews are underway at Butler and DePauw. WNDU
- ➤ Crews from Mishawaka Utilities electric division are working to restore power downtown—investigation continues until service is fully returned. WNDU
- ➤ St. Joseph County approved an ordinance that requires solar developers to compensate homeowners if a property sells below fair market value after 270 days on the market—county leaders say it will protect residents from lower offers caused by nearby solar projects. The rule will be reviewed on Aug. 18 by the Area Plan Commission and will not apply to pre-approved projects like the Hexagon Energy development. InkFreeNews

- ➤ Notre Dame linebacker Drayk Bowen ended his baseball career after playing all 16 games last season because the heavy schedule left him exhausted and needing recovery.
