- ➤ Kevin Ellis, 41 from Mishawaka, pleaded guilty to firearm and drug charges after police found a loaded gun, pills, marijuana and a digital scale during a traffic stop and a search of his home—he was sentenced today to 72 months in prison with four years of supervised release. 95.3 MNC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mishawaka and county officials approved an agreement on Tuesday that lets the city extend water and sewer service into Granger for a planned Microsoft data center and residential areas with septic issues. The partners have two months to map the service territory—this plan may lead to future annexation of parts of Granger. WVPE
- ➤ St. Joseph County commissioners passed a unanimous agreement Tuesday to extend water services to a four-mile area along Hickory Road to the county line — an area that includes the Microsoft Data Center site. County, city, and regional partners will work over the next 45–60 days to create maps and timelines for the new utilities. ABC57

- ➤ Indiana University South Bend will start a new program to train nurses in mental health de-escalation thanks to a three-year grant from the Valinhos Foundation.
