ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A man died after a single-vehicle crash led to a fire near Kern and Fir Roads in St. Joseph County on Aug. 30 around 12 a.m.—emergency crews waited for utility workers to secure live electrical wires before reaching the vehicle, and police said the crash remains under investigation. 95.3 MNC
- ➤ Police identified a man as the only person in a vehicle that burst into flames in St. Joseph County while news crews fought a large barn fire whose cause remained unknown. WNDU
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday night, Notre Dame’s late comeback fell short as they lost to Miami 27—24 at Hard Rock Stadium; the Fighting Irish, who have lost seven straight road games against the Hurricanes since 1977, will host Texas A&M on Sept. 13. WNDU
- ➤ Yesterday, Notre Dame football released its final pregame injury report ahead of the game against Miami, noting no major injuries and that freshman backup kicker/punter Erik Schmidt took reps during warmups—preparing as a possible substitute.
