SPORTS NEWS

  • On Sunday night, Notre Dame’s late comeback fell short as they lost to Miami 27—24 at Hard Rock Stadium; the Fighting Irish, who have lost seven straight road games against the Hurricanes since 1977, will host Texas A&M on Sept. 13.  WNDU
  • Yesterday, Notre Dame football released its final pregame injury report ahead of the game against Miami, noting no major injuries and that freshman backup kicker/punter Erik Schmidt took reps during warmups—preparing as a possible substitute. Coach Marcus Freeman said that right guard snaps will be decided based on practice performance as redshirt sophomore Guerby Lambert competes with Sullivan Absher.  South Bend Tribune
  • Notre Dame’s offense is set to start the season with freshman quarterback CJ Carr — who has spent his life training for this moment — and he will count on running backs Jeremiah Love and Jadarian Price and tight end Eli Reardon to lead the attack.  ABC57
  • Notre Dame's defense was strong last year—ranked fourth with only 15.5 points allowed per game—and is under new leadership as Chris Ash takes over as defensive coordinator while Coach Marcus Freeman says the Irish are ready to hit back. Returning players like Leonard Moore and Drayk Bowen will help maintain the edge as the team prepares to prove they are built different.  ABC57
  • Notre Dame lost to Miami 27-24 at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday night—rookie CJ Carr threw a touchdown pass to Micah Gilbert while both the offense and defense struggled against Carson Beck. The loss leaves the Irish winless on the road and they will work to improve before the College Football Playoff begins.  South Bend Tribune
