  • The LOGAN Center hosted its third annual Walk and Roll fundraiser at Potawatomi Zoo last weekend—drawing more than 650 people—where families enjoyed a change from the usual 5K run to a fully accessible event.  WVPE
  • Matt Russell from the Humane Society of St. Joseph County introduced Willow—a 9-year-old dog with a waived adoption fee—to local viewers this week. Interested adopters can visit the shelter at 2506 Grape Road in Mishawaka or call 574-255-4726 for more details.  WNDU
  • Local communities around South Bend will mark the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on Sept. 10 and Sept. 11 with events including a Notre Dame stair climb from 5 to 9 p.m., a 21-mile Memorial Walk beginning at 9:11 a.m., a Mishawaka memorial service at 10:28 a.m.—coinciding with the collapse time of the second tower, and a remembrance ceremony in Warsaw at 6:30 p.m. Additional observances include free veteran tours at Ruthmere Museum in Elkhart and complimentary South Shore Line rides for local health and law enforcement professionals through Sept. 11.  South Bend Tribune

  • Cobus Creek County Park will host Yoga in the Park as it offers an hour of yoga for all skill levels in a calm outdoor setting that invites local residents to join the event.  WNDU

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Trueblood Real Estate from Fishers has partnered with Notre Dame Athletics and will open a new office near the Notre Dame campus in South Bend later this fall—this office will create 50 local jobs and provide a hub for agents and community events.  Michiana Business News

  • Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman said yesterday that comedian Shane Gillis is awesome and his support makes the team seem cool as he celebrated with the locker room after last season’s win at Texas A&M—Gillis also drew attention for appearing in a Bud Light commercial wearing rival Texas gear.  South Bend Tribune
