- ➤ The Mishawaka Parks and Rec. Department announced that reconstruction has begun at Merrifield Park with a completion goal of November. Officials said the delay came from time spent inspecting fallen tree damage plus delays with insurance, parts, and shipping. ABC57

- ➤ Firefighters responded just after 9:15 p.m. Thursday night to a fire at Janco Engineered Products on the 1200 block of E. 7th Street in Mishawaka—no injuries were reported and the cause remains unknown. WNDU

- ➤ The Cat Lady Café will host the first Midwest Meow Fest at the Century Center on March 21st, 2026 — a full day event featuring cat-centered vendors, local rescues, and New York Times best-selling author Hannah Shaw as the keynote speaker. WNDU
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Mishawaka-based Intrepid Phoenix Ventures got a Department of Defense SBIR Phase I Grant for its project to use generative AI to help people recover from addiction. The project — a collaboration with Indiana University School of Social Work — will build a tool that makes personal recovery plans and tracks progress for better care. Michiana Business News
- ➤ Mishawaka-based Franciscan Alliance announced leadership changes that will take effect Sept. 20th—Raymond Grady is named president and CEO of Lake County hospitals and clinics including Crown Point, Dyer and Munster while Frank McHugh will serve as interim president and CEO at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields—marking a shift in its regional health care approach for Northwest Indiana and Chicago’s South Suburbs.
