- ➤ Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana is hosting Pop Tab Palooza today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at United Federal Credit Union Edison Lakes Branch at 4840 N. Main Street in Mishawaka—donated pop tabs will help support families with hospitalized children. WNDU
- ➤ New Day Intake Center broke ground on September 22 at 4022 Old Cleveland Road for a low-barrier shelter that will include 120 beds, a medical clinic, mental health and addiction support spaces, a full-service kitchen, communal areas and an art workshop; construction is set to finish by late 2027 and the South Bend Common Council is expected to vote tonight on a $4 million forgivable loan tied to TIF revenues—ensuring funding for the project. - ➤ Notre Dame is hosting a summit on AI, faith and human flourishing from Sept. 22 through Sept. 25 on campus—today, Dr. Meghan Sullivan will livestream her keynote on the DELTA framework at 8:30 a.m. The event gathers ethicists, technologists, faith leaders and policymakers to discuss AI's ethical and spiritual impacts. - ➤ Retired cardiologist Dr. Bill Sarnat—who has led annual CPR training with enFocus—will train nearly 1,500 St. Joseph County eighth graders at Mishawaka High School’s Steele Stadium on Wednesday to learn CPR as efforts to boost survival rates continue, with rates having risen from 5% in 2017 to 11% last year. - ➤ Ivy Tech Community College, South Bend-Elkhart, and SlateUp announced a new partnership to help connect students with high-demand manufacturing jobs as employers gain access to Ivy Tech’s talent pool—aiming to ease Indiana’s manufacturing talent shortage. - ➤ Two local teachers are finalists for Indiana Teacher of the Year—Martin Briggs from Crichfield Elementary with 47 years of teaching and L.A. - ➤ Bill Conyers from the Mishawaka Fire Department was named the 2025 Indiana EMS Officer of the Year by the Indiana Fire Chief’s Association and was honored on September 17th at the IFCA Awards Banquet. - ➤ City of Mishawaka will break ground on the fully inclusive Miracle League Park at Normain Park on September 24 at 4:00 p.m. The new park will feature a Miracle League Field, inclusive playground, splash pad, accessible restrooms, Sona Arch interactive play structure, softball field and sensory areas to serve children and adults with disabilities. - ➤ Congressman Rudy Yakym returned over $78 million to residents of Indiana’s Second District after helping thousands of constituents with federal agencies for veterans’ benefits, social security, Medicare, tax issues — and immigration services, emphasizing his commitment to community support. 95.3 MNC

- ➤ The St. Joseph County Department of Health will hold a free naloxone giveaway + training event this Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the OneRoof Southeast Neighborhood Center at 405 E. Dubail Avenue in South Bend to teach how to recognize and respond to opioid overdoses. WNDU
