COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Humane Society of St. Joseph County hosted a disco gala that featured an elegant dinner, open bar and live entertainment with raffles—aiming to raise more than $100,000 for lifesaving programs that help thousands of homeless, neglected and abused animals each year— in support of local animal welfare.  WSBT
  • Potawatomi Zoo will host its annual Zoo Boo event from Oct. 17 through 19 with a Heroes and Princesses theme and from Oct. 24 through 26 with a Witches and Wizardry theme, featuring character actors, trick or treat trails, a spooky train, giraffe feeding and photo spots while regular admission is closed on those days. The zoo will operate (2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 17, 18, 24 and 25 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 19 and 26) and offers Zoo attraction tickets for extra rides.  ABC57

  • Chris Zorich recapped Notre Dame's win over Boise State and explained that the Irish will need to adjust both their offense and defense—by focusing on key shifts—to beat NC State in their upcoming game.  WNDU
  • Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman said his team faces a tough test today as it prepares to play NC State, which is led by sophomore quarterback CJ Bailey and running back Hollywood Smothers & holds a 4-2 record. The game starts at 3:30 p.m. and will air on NBC’s streaming service, Peacock.  WNDU
  • Former Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith discussed his roots and return to campus during an interview with WNDU 16 Sports on October 11, explaining what it means for him to reconnect with the team.  WNDU
  • No. 16 Notre Dame beat NC State 36-7 on Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium. The Fighting Irish scored 26 points in the second half—CJ Carr passed for 342 yards with two touchdowns while Jeremiyah Love ran for 86 yards with two scores.  WNDU
  • Notre Dame football will face NC State today at 3:30 p.m. with kicker Noah Burnette expected to play despite a questionable list while wide receiver Jaden Greathouse, nickelback DeVonta Smith, and lineman Will Black are out—defensive lineman Preston Zinter returns after missing two games and junior tight end Cooper Flanagan may join the roster for the first time since the Sugar Bowl.  South Bend Tribune
