COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local officials announced that new community partners have joined the child safety center to enhance programs that support child protection — the center will work with these groups to improve safety resources. Further details will be released soon.  WNDU
  • A new facility called Community Partners for Child Safety opened in South Bend—Geminus and the Indiana Department of Child Services held a ribbon cutting to mark its launch, which will offer crisis intervention, mentoring, parenting education, and financial guidance to families facing behavioral, financial, housing, or domestic challenges.  WNDU

FINANCE NEWS

  • INOVA Federal Credit Union is hosting a free financial workshop at the Tolson Center—focusing on home ownership programs and small business capital access—and will provide guidance on funding for local entrepreneurs.  WNDU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Intermittent road closures will affect W. Dragoon Trail and Inwood Road this Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. for aerial power line work; Dragoon Trail will be closed from Logan Street to Spring Street between 9 a.m. and noon—motorists are urged to use alternate routes.  ABC57
  • Indiana Gov. Mike Braun signed a resolution with seven governors and two premiers — launching a regional sustainable agriculture initiative that aims to improve healthy economy, soil health, and water quality.   • Notre Dame and Beacon Health have teamed up to conduct health care research— the new partnership will study innovative methods to improve patient treatment.  WNDU
  • Notre Dame and Beacon Health System announced a multiyear research partnership on Thursday to provide medical students hands-on clinical experience and launch research on cancer, postpartum care and patient data — the effort will also help recruit physicians to meet local needs.  WNDU
  • Raising Cane’s is selling a limited-edition Breast Cancer Awareness Plush Puppy to raise funds for cancer research in local restaurants—helping support new treatment research. The chain will donate part of its proceeds—making a direct pledge to advance research efforts.  WNDU
