  • Bethel University will host its first Billy Kirk Scholars Visit Day on November 19 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., offering free campus tours, workshops, and one-on-one meetings for students applying for Fall 2026 plus a chance to receive a $2,000 visit scholarship and access to up to $8,000 in additional awards.   • Holy Cross College President Dr. Marco J. Clark and Acting Business Department Chair Dr. Lutz will travel to Rome next week to speak at the Purpose of the University Conference—where they will have a private audience with Pope Leo XIV.   • Mishawaka food pantries that serve 35 to 50 people daily are now seeing up to 10 extra visitors as the government shutdown raises fears that SNAP benefits may stop on November 1—officials say that if Congress does not reopen the government or the USDA does not provide funds, food aid could face cuts.  WSBT
  • The Indiana State Police warns drivers to be alert as deer start appearing on roadways with the mating season underway; last year, over 17,000 deer-related accidents led to 707 injuries and nine fatalities.
