- ➤ Mark Loveless (70) is the engineering manager for software development at AE Techron just off (US 20) in Elkhart, and he said he has no immediate plans to retire because he enjoys his work and stays healthy. He returned from Silicon Valley after spending 15 years there and running a dairy farm for 17 years, and he now uses more of his skills by managing software test systems for customers. InkFreeNews

- ➤ Adam Driver, who grew up in Mishawaka, said he spent two years pitching a Star Wars movie about his character, Ben Solo, with director Steven Soderbergh and Lucasfilm supporting the idea but Disney rejecting it. The film, to be called The Hunt for Ben Solo, was scrapped because Disney leaders did not see a way to keep the character alive—leaving Driver puzzled about his future role in the saga. - ➤ Historical newspaper excerpts show that in 1931 Mayor W.R. Hinkle declared the Uptown Halloween frolic the official celebration as children opened the parade — decorations were set along South Michigan street for 60,000 people. The collection also features a 1900 electric headlight test, World War I awards for Mishawaka men in 1922, a 1959 burglary, and a 1962 peacock escape. South Bend Tribune
