- ➤ The Tribune is asking local readers to vote for Student of the Week with nominees from Mishawaka High, LaVille Jr/Sr, Adams, and NorthWood High. Voting will be open until noon Thursday, Nov. 6—winners will be featured online Friday and in the next print edition. South Bend Tribune
- ➤ The Penn-Harris-Madison school board filled the Penn Township seat by unanimously appointing Jen Smoker, a current member of the P-H-M Education Foundation (which supports local fundraising events), to replace former board member Matt Chaffee, who resigned last month after local blogger allegations (which he called defamatory). - ➤ The South Bend school board approved a record budget with major teacher salary increases in its Nov. 3 meeting—local educators will receive higher pay as outlined in the budget. The decision sets a new financial record for the schools and will take effect soon. WNDU

- ➤ The City of Mishawaka announced lane restrictions for westbound traffic on E. University Drive near Target starting at 7 a.m. Wednesday due to curb and drive approach modification work — only one thru lane will be available — and the restrictions will remain until Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. weather permitting.
