- ➤ A tree fell on a power line last Wednesday and left the Grape Road and Main Street corridor without power, so Mishawaka Target donated 50,000 pounds of food to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana. Nonprofit Cultivate—which built a cold storage facility in South Bend last year—rescued the food and invited pantries to pick it up today amid SNAP challenges. WVPE
- ➤ Food Bank of Northern Indiana is hosting its Turkeys on the Table drive-through distributions starting today in Marshall County, where households can receive free, pre-boxed turkeys and food items while supplies last. The program will run through November 25 across several counties—including Elkhart, Kosciusko, St. Joseph, and LaPorte—with each event serving a set number of households at specified times. 95.3 MNC
- ➤ On November 11, a Veteran's Day ceremony at St. Joseph Mishawaka Medical Center featured a bald eagle from Michigan Avian Experience—its wildlife presentation honored local veterans and attracted community members. WSBT
- ➤ Mishawaka Troop Town replaced worn flags at Battell Park for Veterans Day to honor local veterans—this work was completed in time to mark the holiday. WNDU
- ➤ After years of work, veterans built Mishawaka Troop Town to offer homeless veterans a chance to rebuild their lives and will welcome its first residents later this year—each 400-square-foot unit is fully furnished with a private bathroom and comes with additional support such as a live-in caretaker and exercise room. The project aims to help veterans regain stability and develop habits for a better future. WNDU
