COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local groups who oppose the state's demolition of historic Naragon Barn at Potato Creek State Park will rally at 2 p.m. Saturday—officials from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said they have not announced a demolition date and noted that law does not protect the barn.  WVPE

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A passenger jet from O'Hare to Allentown made an emergency landing at South Bend International Tuesday night after smoke was reported on board—no one was injured and a replacement flight took passengers from Chicago to Pennsylvania.  95.3 MNC

  • A photo shows the Northern Lights dancing over Michiana skies in North Judson on November 11 — the image by Andrea Stalbaum is part of a gallery that captures a rare natural phenomenon.  WSBT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Notre Dame is launching the Angrick Military Scholars Program in August 2026 with a $15 million gift from Bill and Stephanie Angrick to support military-affiliated MBA students and their families. The program will fund up to 10 scholars at $30,000 per year for relocation, housing, and child care expenses and gives preference to military and Coast Guard veterans with families.  Michiana Business News
  • Penn High School approved new courses in real estate, healthcare, and personal finance for the 2026-2027 school year. Assistant Principal Josiah Parker said the courses will prepare students for a real estate broker’s license, a CNA certification and financial skills—promising fresh opportunities for learners.  WVPE

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A geomagnetic storm on Tuesday night produced northern lights visible across Indiana & North America after a coronal mass ejection from the sun. Meteorologist Jason Puma reported many sightings in central Indiana while the Space Weather Prediction Center warned that the storm may have disrupted power grids, communications and GPS signals on Wednesday.  95.3 MNC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • St. Joseph County Council voted Wednesday night to direct commissioners to submit proposals to reopen Portage Manor, a facility closed for two years that served disabled and mentally ill residents for over 100 years. The resolution paves the way for proposals including St. Thomas More Academy's restoration plan + the council will vote on the best option after future presentations.  WNDU

  • Yesterday, the Notre Dame men’s basketball program signed three players for the 2026 recruiting class—bringing fresh talent to the team.  WNDU
  • Hannah Hidalgo broke records with 16 steals and 44 points in yesterday’s 85-58 win over Akron as she made key shots, free throws, and earned nine rebounds and four assists in 28 minutes on the court—her performance helped lift the Fighting Irish. They will face Michigan on Saturday in Detroit at 4 p.m.  WNDU
