CULTURE NEWS

  • Wawasee High School will debut its fall play Trap—a thriller where nearly every audience member falls unconscious except one—on Nov. 21, 22 and 23, with performances at 7 p.m. on the first two nights and 2 p.m. on the last. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and younger kids, with alumni paying for the first 200 student tickets and parents of children under fifth grade advised not to bring them.  InkFreeNews

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Notre Dame College of Science is hosting its fifth annual Christmas Lecture today at The Bendix Arena from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.—the free event features Tatiana Erukhimova presenting 'Making Physics Viral' along with hands-on demos, cookies, and cocoa for all attendees.  WNDU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • County Surveyor Derek Dieter announced Tuesday a proposal to form a nonprofit that would preserve 90 acres—including a ravine—around Portage Manor for public use while aligning with St. Thomas More Academy’s restoration plans. The proposal aims to address a local deficit in public open land and could open new public trails on the historic property.  WNDU
  • Mishawaka Utilities received the IMEA Safety Award of Excellence for its Large Utility Division—one of only three statewide—and recognized Don Beck with the IMEA Distinguished Service Award for his mentoring and safety leadership in public power. The awards underscore the utility's continued commitment to jobsite safety and community service.  City of Mishawaka
  • South Bend hosted a ceremony yesterday to celebrate finishing the Mishawaka Avenue Streetscape project—showing work meant to keep roads safe for everyone. City officials said the project will soon make travel easier around town.  WNDU

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Cosette Fox from Holy Cross traveled to Poland last month to help young Ukrainian refugees cope with war trauma through her Project Personality program—she taught local professionals to continue the therapy with Ukrainian mothers and children. Fox plans to expand the program to Taiwan to offer more mental health support in the region.  WNDU
