  • The Notre Dame hockey team helped Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana this week by collecting drive-up donations, baking food, and cleaning key areas as the nonprofit prepares to meet increased holiday needs for families staying there.  WNDU
  • Michiana Jeep Club donated toys at a local Toys-for-Tots drive on Dec. 7 to help families during the holiday season. The club has a long-standing tradition of supporting the community.  WNDU
  • St. Patrick’s County Park is hosting a winter solstice hike on Sunday, Dec. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a self-led glowing trail and treats along with a craft in the Brown Barn (registration and payment of $5 per person are required by Dec. 19).  95.3 MNC
  • Mamas, a gentle and food-motivated pup just over a year old, has been at the South Bend Animal Resource Center since September and is now available for adoption. She plays well with others (including kids and dogs) and is eager to join a loving family.  WSBT

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Sunday, Dec. 7, a pipe burst affected 20 senior living units in Elkhart and damaged an electrical panel, prompting staff to safely relocate residents to other care communities. Gaylor Electric will assess the panel in 24 hours & equipment orders for the kitchen are finalized today.  ABC57

  • Seven Michiana businesses advanced to the second round of Indiana’s Coolest Thing Made in Indiana tournament that allows public voting to pick the state’s top product, and votes will close Wednesday, Dec. 10.  95.3 MNC
