COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the Pokagon Band and Four Winds Casinos distributed over 1,000 holiday food boxes to local families, with more than 200 boxes delivered to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana — the program will also support Thanksgiving and Easter baskets.  WNDU
  • Local volunteers and Scouts placed wreaths from Wreaths Across America on veterans’ graves at Fairview Cemetery on Tuesday, Dec. 23 (after previous efforts were cut short by weather) ahead of Christmas.  WSBT

  • The University of Notre Dame, Parkview Health, and the 1842 Fund announced a project to launch two digital health startups in 2026 that will help rural communities. The effort follows discussions at Notre Dame's R.I.S.E. AI Conference in October and will use a significant initial investment from the 1842 Fund.  InkFreeNews
  • The FDA expanded its recall on Dec. 19 for frozen shrimp found to contain Cesium-137, prompting Market 32 and Waterfront Bistro brands sold at Price Chopper + others in Indiana and beyond to be pulled from shelves.   • Beacon Children’s Hospital hosted a Christmas photo event for NICU babies and their families on Dec. 23. Santa visited to bring holiday cheer and capture festive moments at the hospital.  WNDU

  • The annual Notre Dame-USC rivalry game will not be played in 2026 after the teams failed to agree on scheduling, cancelling the planned 100th anniversary clash. Instead, Notre Dame announced a new home-and-home series with BYU for 2026+2027.  95.3 MNC
