  • Mishawaka’s Veterans of Foreign Wars will host the Memorial Day Parade at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 26—starting at Main Street and Third Street, moving north on Main Street then west along Mishawaka Avenue—and ending at the corner of Mishawaka Avenue and Forest Avenue for a ceremony honoring our nation’s heroes.  City of Mishawaka

  • Mishawaka High School seniors walked through their old elementary schools on Monday morning, wearing cap and gowns while elementary students cheered them on—marking the second annual Senior Walk Through.  WSBT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A construction project began Monday on the south side of Mishawaka Avenue between Longfellow and Emerson Avenues that will add new curbs and sidewalks and cause lane closures on eastbound lanes and the ramp from Eddy Street and State Road 23—phase one is expected to last until early August.  WSBT
  • The Indiana State Department of Agriculture is seeking project proposals from the state’s specialty crop sector to receive $416,350 from the USDA’s Specialty Crop Block Grant Program—applications must be submitted online by June 4. Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith noted the funds will support crop competitiveness for fruits, vegetables and nursery crops.  95.3 MNC

  • In-home care provider Caring For Hoosiers announced its closure on May 16 after giving one week’s notice, leaving families and care workers scrambling for new support—transitions this large usually require more time.  95.3 MNC
  • Pollen counts are high in Michiana as allergy season shows signs of being tough. Dr. Sohaib Aleem (South Bend Clinic) explained common symptoms, effective treatments and ways to reduce exposure.  WNDU
  • Construction crews continue work at Beacon Mishawaka Outpatient Center — located at the northeast corner of Lincoln Way East and Church Street — with officials stating the project will be completed in the first quarter of 2026.  South Bend Tribune
