Purdue pauses its football series with Notre Dame and adds West Virginia for 2027

If you had Purdue's 2027 trip to South Bend circled, you can erase it. Purdue announced Tuesday that a road game at West Virginia takes Notre Dame's spot on its 2027 schedule. Purdue said the addition "will place a pause on Purdue's longstanding series against Notre Dame".

ABC57 says Purdue's release cited "schedule movement involving multiple schools". The Journal & Courier adds that new College Football Playoff scheduling minimums influenced the move. Athletic director Tommy McClelland said the series will be reevaluated for future schedules.
